Kansas City Area Screening + Surprise Announcement Promised

Hello to All,

I want everyone to know that ShowMeTheVote!, in conjunction with the Association of Latin American Students of UMKC, will be sponsoring a three night screening of Dorothy Fadiman's film, Stealing America: Vote by Vote, on February 26-28th, at the University of Missouri at Kansas City.

Following the film there will be a panel discussion, including Dorothy Fadiman, Steven Freeman and Paul Lehto (see details on promotional material, below). Dorothy and Paul will be on the panel each night, joined by Steven on the 26th and 27th.

We have invited Congressman Emanuel Cleaver (MO-5) for the 26th, in order to pay tribute to his co-sponsorship of HR 6200, the "Hand Cast Paper Ballot for President in 2008" bill, introduced by Dennis Kucinich in the fall of 2006.

Yesterday brought confirmation that freshman Rep. Nancy Boyda (KS-2) will attend, or send a representative to, the Cleaver tribute.

Tuesday brings our KC mayoral race, so we hope to have a future mayor with us on the 26th, also.

Following the accolades, the festivities, the film, and the forum, we will have two surprise announcements. One will be of specific interest to Missourians, while the second is important to all Americans.

Michael Collins, star reporter for Scoop News, NZ, has promised to be with us in order to break the story.

So, for all who can attend, we suggest making reservations early. We have a capacity of only 360 over these three nights and expect SRO crowds. Email or phone to insure a seat, and you will receive an acknowledging email to serve as your “ticket”.
