Ike Skelton votes for CAFTA

CAFTA passed in the House by 217-215, and Ike Skelton was one of the 15 Democrats who voted for it. (27 Republicans voted against it.)

House Republican leaders prevailed over mostly Democratic objections that the agreement leaves American workers vulnerable to losing their jobs, and Latin American workers vulnerable to laboring without employment protections.

...Ike Skelton also declined to comment when it was reported that as a member of the House Armed Services committee, George Tenet had warned him "just weeks before" that an "attack of this very kind" on the US was "imminent"...

And he's already heard from me. He hears from me on a weekly basis anyway so he might ignore it (though he never has in the past). I heard that he is supposed to be in the area soon (townhall or a speech or something like that). I might have to run him down and ask a question or two(I've done it in the past).

and I think xmas is right that he's supposed to be in the area soon. I genuinely like Ike Skelton, and I've heard him speak often enough that I believe his heart is in the right place. His voting record often makes me cringe though. I'll have to write him about this one.

5. I've always thought that he really did care too.

And he's one of the few that I've written that will answer back in a timely fashion (usually w/in a week, compared to our Senators). He does what he thinks is right but his top concern is for Whiteman and always has been.

As soon as I saw it, he has heard from me. I write him at least once a week, and yes, he generally is in line with my thoughts, but was wondering what he was thinking this time. Can't wait to hear what he has to say.
