1. "Air America from distant stations at night"
I feel for you pstokely, I really do.

There's Clear Channel station, WKBF 1270 am, broadcasting AirAmerica shows, as well as other progressive programming about 60 miles from me, which I can pick up on my day time drive to work, but only with an awful lot of bleed over from the two neighboring stations on the dial.

On the way home at night, I can pick up WCKY 1530 AM, which is a good three hundred miles away from me - and the reception really stinks.

Unfortunately, those are the ONLY AirAmerica stations I can recieve, here on the west end of Illinois.

2. wire coil really helps
Edited on Wed Apr-13-05 02:46 AM by oscar111
use most any kind of wire coil, next to your radio, to up reception.

Or string wire across your room and touch it to your radio antenna.
This is safe for battery radios, but

CAUTION IF YOU USE A HOUSECURRENT RADIO. MIGHT FEED 120 VOLTS INTO THE ANTENNA.

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
HALF YOUR RADIO IS THE ANTENNA
old maxim

you can spend to buy a coil for this purpose, or just buy a cheap coil of copper bell wire.

try diff angles for the coil. coil need not be attached, but a long antenna does.

With a long antenna, i used to somehow get BBC shorwave in the top end of AM dial, above 600 kc khz area.

5. Get a satellite radio
It rocks.

But don't get Sirius. XM will have AAR exclusively starting May 1. The only reason I got satellite radio was for AAR. Now I have to buy an XM system if I want to keep listening to AAR. grrrr

8. I am waiting for details too.
I listened to channel 143 today - Sirius Left. Not bad. It was that guy from North Dakota. What is his name? He was okay, he wasn't Randi but I could listen to him if I lose AAR.

6. My computer
doesn't pick it up anymore. I don't know what the deal is. When AAR first hit the airwaves last year, I listened online. Then sometime last summer, it stopped working. I have a Mac and there are some things I can't do. Actually, more and more all the time. I can't watch most videos and only rarely can listen to audio stuff. I can't access my online banking anymore. I was invited to join a discussion board a month ago and can't get my Mac to access it. I am really tempted to get a PC. But I really can't afford it. And I used to just love my Mac.

10. Ouch
Those problems would seem fixable, but I don't know anything about Macs.

11. What OS are you using?
If you're using OS 9 or before, then you're going to get increasing dysfuntional, as more and more sites go to OS X exclusively.

If you are using OS X, I don't know what's going on. I've been using OSX for almost two years now, and haven't had any problems.

What's your browser? Perhaps you need to upgrade that. Any other symptoms?

13. OS X

Internet Explorer. No, I don't want Safari or Firefox. I looked in to both of them and don't like them. My son thinks I need to upgrade my system. But I have done that once before and you lose everything you have on your computer when you upgrade a Mac.
