Best food in Mississippi
When I am out exploring the state, I like to find good restaurants. Tell us about restaurants in your area that have good food.

Ok, I'll start. I love to spend time in Natchez, and I often venture over the bridge to the Sandbar in Vidalia. Good little seafood restaurant on west bank of the Mississippi River.

Ever in Hattiesburg? If you feel like Mexican, eat at La Fiesta Brava. Feel like Italian? Eat at Panino's. Best manicotti in the world.

1. Ajax's in Oxford.
Get the meatloaf - god, it's good. The beer's pretty cheap too - I can get the meatloaf & 4 or 5 beers for less than 20$

3.  Best food in Jackson

THIS is a GREAT food and wine list of establishments within the Jackson area. His politics are pretty far right, but don't let that fool you into thinking his culinary tastes are second or third rate (pun intended).

4. I love Hamil's
in the Jackson area somewhere (Ridgeland?) - for wonderful home-cooking - and a bargain, too. My sister takes me every time I visit her (I live in Little Rock, AR)

5. Jackson area
Depends on what you're looking for. The Elite in downtown Jxn
has the best rolls and their stacked enchiladas can't be beat.
For redfish, The Mayfower, also downtown is the best. Crecheles
has the best stuffed shrimp and great filet mignon. For fine
dining go to Nick's on Lakeland Dr. for royal treatment. These
are some of my favorites and all are independently locally
owned.

9. Depends...
Here in Tupelo, IV's Restaurant is hands down the best -- but it is a semi-formal establishment. It has a professional chef, wine celler, etc. (and prices to match). The Chef, Al Wallace, IV, and developed a strong reputation during culinary school and as a Seus Chef in New Orleans. He wanted to move home, so here he is. Excellent meats and seafood, and interesting salads abound.

As for informal dining, I would go with the Rib Cage -- the food is better than average, but coupled with the atmosphere its a good deal.
