MINNEAPOLIS PRECINT CAUCUSES, 3/1!
Minneapolis' DFL precinct caucuses will be held Tuesday, March 1, 2005,
beginning at 7 PM.
A precinct caucus is how we in Minneapolis participate in selecting who
will get the DFL endorsement for local offices like mayor, city council,
and park and library boards. In fact, it’s the only way in which we can
participate in this endorsement process. Caucus is an opportunity unlike
any other to participate in and nurture democracy at the grassroots,
neighborhood level. It’s also one of the most fundamental ways we can act
as citizens to ensure that our city continues to be a thriving city for
all. And caucus is fun!

A caucus is like a neighborhood political meeting. This is where we begin
the process of selecting delegates to the ward and city convention where
WE will decide who should get the DFL endorsement.
The process is simple, go to caucus and run to become a delegate. It is as
simple as that, and then you qualify to be a delegate at the City
convention. This year it is going to be a fun, simple process, in hopes to
to bring out the most people.
Above all, caucus is a great exercise in grassroots democracy. It's a
gathering unlike any other, one which will provide you with the
opportunity to have a direct impact on the direction of – and indeed, to
take back – your neighborhood, your city, your party and your state.
Being a delegate, it's easy!
The Minneapolis DFL City Convention will occur on a Saturday, May 14.
