2. His wife has an actress carrer anf is living in California
Last I knew.
She was major league PO'ed when a TV station here made mention of it before the 2002 elections. She threw a hissy and took them to task for even talking about their living arrangements.
From what I hear, Normy likes the lady folk, but I have no first hand knowledge of his private life. I'm guessing that Senator is about as far as he can go without some major investments in keeping lots of people quiet. I really doubt that he is re-elected, he's nothing more than a rubber stamp for W and a mouthpiece for the neocons.
She is an "actress" in LA, and has not been in Minnesota for years. Norm has raised the kids ON HIS OWN for years. She is NOT a tradionally Republican lady, in fact, SHE IS NOT A REPUBLICAN AT ALL, SHE IS A DEMOCRAT, who got royally pissed when he switched parties. She is also dumber than an onion, and is usually tipsy when she goes to events with Norm. They are a complete mismatch. I met her, and SHE IS AS DUMB AS A POST, and they seemed to be quite uncomfortable around each other. Rod Grams used to trash him for "having affairs." Yeah, like HE should talk, lol. Norm just has better taste. :-)
I got to meet this ditz, and others, when a friend took me to some events during the GOP convention last summer. I also went to an event for Tommy Thompson, another GOP pol who evidently hasn't lived with HIS wife for years, even in the Governor's mansion. Needless to say, I was treated to QUITE an exhibition from HIM, too. I can reprint it, if you like. What is it with GOPers in the Upper Mid-West not living with their wives? Even the GOP gossips about Norm.
5. From what I hear most his "extra curricular" activties
wouldn't rate being called affairs. However, I did once hear rumors about him and the daughter of a prominent Minnesota politician having quite the fling. The only thing that made me doubt that rumor is said daughter once threw a St. Patrick's Day fund raiser for the weasel and I would think if she knew him in the Biblical sense, she would have known he wasn't one of the Irish Colemans (Nick Sr, Nick Jr. and Chris). Though Normie has been known to not make a point of making the fact he not related to them clear.
8. I wish I had a dollar for every person I know who has seen him out
and about with women just here in St Paul. He and his wife have lived apart since his days as St Paul mayor. She principally in Calif.
If Coleman were still a Democrat this would be used against him unmercifully by the Repubs. And personally, I think we ought to do so too. Especially since he represents the supposed PARTY OF MORALS AND FAMILY VALUES. People outstate have no idea what his lifestyle actually is.
Also, I don't think it would take much to get the goods on him.
.... this has been around a long time. I know through excellent sources that he HAS had serious, long term extramarital affairs as well as short flings....I have long said that his horns will get him in trouble sometime while he's in office.
trouble is, the people in a position to confirm the stories will not go on the record. every twin cities news organization has, or did, pursue the story, too.
there is the story of "the girl in the cooler." this one has Norm getting caught in flagrante dilecto with a waitress at a south mpls restaurant in the walk-in cooler in some state of undress.
there also was the story that he had a 'kept woman' in an apartment on summit ave. in st. paul. the twin cities dailies practically had people knocking on every door in st. paul to find her (this was when Normie ran for gov.)
the odd thing was, Walker Lundy, the PiPress executive editor at the time, wrote a strange editorial page column about something he described as 'the rumor' about 'one of the candidates for high public office.' anyone following the race knew who he was talking about. he explained that the paper had been chasing the story along with other Twin Cities media but no one had enough hard evidence to run the story. people wondered what the point of the column was. it apparently was just to say 'in case anybody else reports the story before we do, here's telling you that we knew about it first.'
also: I have a friend who swears she saw Norman and a woman NOT his wife at Bluefin Bay resort on Lake Superior after he lost the gov. race. This friend spent a long weekend there and saw the happy couple arm in arm, smooching etc. several times during the weekend...but she won't go on the record.
apparently now that he's part of the BFEE he frightens people.
AWOL, paying for a girlfriend's abortion, trashing rental houses, urinating on cars, cheating small shareholders at Arbusto, his record of failed businesses, ripping off taxpayers and landowners during his stint owning a baseball team...and, apparently, no one cares.
I suspect that any woman who went public about Normie's exploits would be completely trashed by the RW/MSM and it might not make any difference anyway, since Rethugs seem to be held to a different standard than the rest of us.
42. Before you wish his demise, you'd better have a good candidate
to unseat him. And an even more urgent concern is Dayton. I doubt that he will win his second term.
This is the problem that we. Democrats, have. We do not come with good candidates that can connect with the voters on, as Michael Moore said, a visceral level. And all the programs in the world won't work if the candidate, as a person, cannot grab the voter. And then all the labels just drop.
19. According to a post I read on another board back in 2002 or so
Edited on Mon Jan-10-05 01:49 PM by Spike from MN
someone delivered a pizza to his house and he stiffed the delivery person. That's right. No tip. When the delivery person was walking back to his/her car a woman (NOT his wife) came running out of the house and gave him a tip. Good job impressing the ladies there Norm. Cheap bastard.
