WTF is up with those recession billboards along I-35?
So I've driven down to the Cities a couple times in the last few weeks and I keep seeing these "Recession 101" billboards and they fill me with a burning rage like a thousand suns. Here's a website that even calls them "inspirational":

http://theinspirationroom.com/daily/2009/recession-101-billboards/

...when all they are is just the advertising industry filling billboards so we don't see more empty billboards and "scare the children" with talk of the recession. I find them annoying and the message unhelpful. Whew, now I got that off my chest.

1. I think they are a lot more helpful than the media talking about how bad things are.
Consumer confidence is something that drives the economy- if people start having a more positive outlook they can start pulling the country out of this recession.

The constant "sky is falling" talk only serves to delay any potential recovery.

3. That is also true.
I'll let you know when the recovery seems more real than imaginary. :D

5. The one that pisses me off the most is the one that says "Experience and talent are recession-
-proof assets." Sorry, you can't eat experience or talent.

6. Especially when you're employer can lay you off
and hire someone younger and/or with an H1B visa for a whole lot less.

It's a big joke. Unless you have zero scruples and prefer to find ways to screw people out of money. Then it's an inspiration... hmmm...

(a dramatization, but not inaccurate. Note that they retain licensing of Windows and they can pull it at any time. What software does your employer or government use? :D )

4. Exactly. I hear "Bill Gates" and I think "unscrupulous scary man who hawks an inferior product and
somehow makes bajillions!" Which, in my recession-level living, is just a little insulting.
