A fellow translator picked me up, and we went first to dinner at Midori's Floating World restaurant and then to the light rail station. By the time the train came, it was already 6:26, but we arrived just as Kerry was starting to speak.
The line to get in seemed to snake much of the way around the metrodome, and the enclosure seemed pretty packed.
Kerry stood on a platform in the middle of the crowd accompanied by Max Cleland and someone else. We were so far away (arriving late, as we did :spank: ) that people around us were saying to their kids "See, that's Kerry way over there in the tan jacket."
I liked what I could hear of Kerry's speech, but unfortunately, the sound system was really funky. On the "wrong" side of the Metrodome, the sound seemed to be bouncing off nearby buildings and was quite audible, but inside the enclosure, the sound level seemed to change, depending on which way Kerry was facing.
Anyway, the crowd was enthusiastic, and the trains coming back to Lake Street were packed solid Tokyo-style. It made my companion and me very nostalgic. :-)
