Just got back from Senate District 15 (St. Cloud) and Dist 14 update
Edited on Sat Mar-29-08 05:17 PM by wellstone dem
I spent about 5 hours at the Senate District convention in St. Cloud. 350 staunch Democrats gathered to join together to make the world a better place.

Great rousing speeches from Rep. Larry Haws and Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer.

A great candidate stepped forward to take on first-termer GOP Rep. Steve Gottwalt. State Sen. Tarryl Clark was there to nominate that candidate--JoAnn Dorsher. Tarryl gave her own great speech.

The two candidates who are taking on Rep. Bachman also spoke. Both great candidates.

There were 20 subcaucuses at the start to elect our 14 delegates. I'm not sure how it all shook out. There were definitely more delegates for Tinklenberg than for Olson (both running for Bachman's seats). Also probably more delegates for Franken, though there were quite a few where the Senate candidate was not declared for the subcaucus. Nelson-Pallmeyer also earned several delegates.

I was elected a delegate from a Nelson-Pallmeyer/Tinklenberg subcaucus.

So on to the 6th district and state conventions.

(on edit--my parents were delegates to the SD 14 convention. I love that my 80 and 88 year old lifelong DFL parents were delegates. I just talked with Dad who said he is confident in all our candidates. He also said there was quite a bit of support for Nelson-Pallmeyer at this convention.)

1. I was there, too.
The turnout was really impressive. It was good to see so many "first-timer's" in attendance and the group of SCSU students. I was a bit disappointed, though, to see that only half of our precinct delegates were there.

IIRC, Tinklenberg got 12 of the delegates.

I thought all the speakers presented themselves well and Tinklenberg was especially moving.

On a personal note, I was elected as a delegate to the State Central Committee.
