Any State of the Union protests in Twin Cities?
Must be, I'd think. This is Minnesota, after all.
We gave Mikhail Gorbachev a warmer welcome than we did for G.H.W. bush.

At the Federal Building in Minneapolis (4th street and 3rd avenue i think?) at 7.30.

I can't make it, I have my sociology class from 5.45-9.20 that night. It probably won't be anything special.

The DC and New York ones should rock though.

3. Well, I guess I'll have to stage my own mini-protest at home
since I seem to have come down with a case of the flu. I'm going to try to actually watch the SOTU this year, even though I only made it about 30 seconds into last year's SOTU before I shut the TV off. That was all I could hack of the lying jackass. No guarantees that this year will be any different but I'll give it a shot.

On the bright side, whenever I have to subject myself to Dubya or any of his cronies on TV. I mute the volume, turn on closed captioning, and spin records on my turntable, choosing those which I think are appropriate for the occasion. Here's a rough idea of what part of my playlist for the SOTU will be like. It's subject to change of course, and since I listen to mostly hardcore punk, you probably won't recognize any of the bands but I think the band names and/or record titles are pretty much self-explanatory. I haven't edited anything so if you are offended by bad language you might want to skip the list.

Severed Head Of State - "Failure Fucker"
Rat Bastards - "Rat Bastards"
Fucked Up - "Police"
Hellnation - "Cheerleaders For Imperialism"
World Burns To Death - "The Sucking Of The Missile Cock"
Born/Dead - "Our Darkest Fears Now Haunt Us"
Disclose - "Nightmare Or Reality"
Riistetyt - "As A Prisoner Of State"
Discharge - "Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing"
Haymaker - "Fuck America" *
Defiance - "No Future No Hope"
Kung Fu Rick - "Coming To An End"
Crossing Chaos - "At The End"
Intensity - "The Ruins Of Our Future"
Fucked Up - "Circling The Drain"

*This one was recorded in 2002 and has a song called "In Home Surveillance." How prophetic.

One record that is sadly missing from the list has a cover of the Crucifuck's "Hinckley Had A Vision" which apparently served as inspiration for the band's own "Doesn't Anyone Want to Impress Jodie Foster Anymore?" Bwahahaha!!! I absolutely HAVE to hunt down a copy of that one. ;)

4. That could be the soundtrack for this presidency...
May I add:

Circle Jerks - "Sinking Ship" and "I Wanna Destroy You" (actually a Robin Hitchcock song)
The Suicide Machines - "No Sale."
Bad Religion - "I Want to Conquer the World."
Falling Sickness - "Better Luck Next Time."
Motion City Soundtrack - "The Future Freaks Me Out."
The Skeletones - "Mr. Pitiful."
The Queers - "Like a Parasite."
Coach Whips - "Evil Son."
Ramones - "Cretin Hop."

5. You're right about that.
Actually, my entire punk collection, or anyone's for that matter, could pretty much serve as the soundtrack for Dubya's pResidency. Hell, the punks are still slamming Reagan so you can imagine how much they love Dubya.

Of course you are free to add anything to the playlist that you like. The Circle Jerks "Question Authority" is another good one. On a side note, I just ordered the EP that has "Doesn't Anyone Want to Impress Jodie Foster Anymore?" so I'll be all set the next time I have to subject myself to one of Dubya's speeches.

Did anyone go to the protest? If so, please feel free to post a report here and let us know how it went.
