(okay I seem to have some kind of virus) I get a call today from some outfit urging me to call my rep to support the "Budget Reconcilliation Bill". The person started babbling about how Republicans could reduce the budget without raising taxes, we just had to control "run away spending". I started out trying to rational but pointing out that I didn't think it was right to reduce the deficit by cutting programs for the most vulnerable and what needed to be done was rollback the taxcuts. She tried to tell me that that wasn't what the bill was about and then, in my fevered condition, I lost it. I ranted about the money and lives wasted in Iraq, the squeeze on the middle class and how I wasn't surprised that a Republican would call me and try to lie about a budget bill. Actually, I should get sick more often as I seemed to have a better command of my facts than I normally do when I'm enraged. My final words were that (and I told her write this down) she needed to go back to her Republican masters who claim to be good Christians and remind them that St. Luke said that unto whom much has been given, much will be expected (I must be close to death if I'm quoting scripture). I was probably overly harsh, but it felt soooo good. Might have given my immune system a boost.
