1. Schwarz 58%?
I was surprised Joe only got 58%. His opponent only spent about $3000 and was not much of a candidate. Joe was endorsed by MEA and the UAW. I even voted for him. If we run a strong candidate it is possible. Also, don't be surprised if the Rep. don't challenge him in the Primary, he is pro choice.

2. Not possible!

It would be very difficult to knock off any of Michigan's incumbent congressmen from either party. Especially one who is as moderate as Schwartz. The only reason the MEA and other unions got on board with him in the first place is that he is in a district that could not be won by even the best of Dem. candidates. Our only hope for a pick up is if some of the incumbents leave office or dies. Mike Rogers' district was close the last time it was open, but he is way to young to leave office and he doesn't seem to be taking the bait to jump and run for Governor or the Senate. We do have one of the oldest delegations in the country though.

Edited for spelling.

3. maybe McCotter's seat could be won.
It takes in enough of Wayne, I think, that we might have a fighting change to make a go of it with a quality candidate in an open race. Our best hope though is to take back the state house and senate and draw up new districts in 2010. Remember, michigan was a 9D v. 7R state before redistricting. Now we are 6D v. 9R because of the new lines.

4. It's still going to boil down to registering voters and getting them to

the polls.

A good charasmatic candidate goes a long way towards helping accomplish that.

Who are those good Democratic candidates? Helping promote them early gives us our best chance.
