Meet fellow Michigan DUers
Go out to sss.du.meetup.com and sign up. Did anyone know this site existed? It's a way to list events in a given geographic area or to set up events to meet other DUers. Maybe we can set up a local event. Anyone care to volunteer to be the organizer?

2. Meet up with other Michigan DUers
I throw one of those events every year. It's called FUNDAY and it'll be held in Saginaw on June 18th. This will be the eleventh annual edition.
John
I buy the food and the beer. We can even find accomodations for the poverty-stricken amongst y'all.

3. Hey John
Which part of Saginaw are you in? By chance the 4th District?

4. Nope. Thankfully, I'm in the Fifth District
The Fourth, represented by Dave Camp (R-Dow Chemical), takes in the suburbs and ends about two miles north or west of me. But I'm in Dale Kildee (D)'s district.
Geographically, I live at almost the dead center of Saginaw -- by the hospitals and Bliss Park.
John
I really hope you can make FUNDAY XI. It would be great to meet you.

7. I wasn't planning on it
Edited on Fri Jan-07-05 02:58 AM by 5thGenDemocrat
I'm not much of a party operative. I donate cash to the campaigns, talk my friends into going to the polls (unless, of course, they're Republicans -- I have a few of those, too), and vote in every election -- school millage, local referendums, state and national -- whatever).
But I've never been to a convention (my Grandmother G was at the 1912 Republican state convention at Bay City, where the original schism between Taft's Republicans and Roosevelt's Bull Moosers occured amidst fights and chair throwing and arrests -- she (3rdGenDem) thought it was great.
Her dad (2ndGenDem) was invited because he was a (D) Bay City city commissioner (sort of as a courtesy -- if you can call it that. Repugs were still ostensibly human in those days).
Where is the convention? Maybe I'll tag along.
John
Either way, keep FUNDAY pencilled in on your calendar.

17. Julie and Sharon
FUNDAY is June 18. Oh, yeah -- I'll be posting so much more info as we go that everyone will be pleading with me to knock it the hell off.
John
But that's still 100 days or so off yet. Then the deluge.

20. Another 4th Districter here! Love how you put Camp's district
Dave Camp (R-Dow Chemical).

I would love to come to your Funday! You could have it at Bliss Park maybe? Or any of the many parks we have around the area. Sounds cool!

I live two blocks from there! Are you from Saginaw?
John
Cheez -- you made my eyes go all toady-frogged even mentioning Bliss Park. Of course you're welcome to come to FUNDAY or, for that matter, to drop on by any old time. PM me for an address.

29. I'm in the township, with fond memories of my last visit to Bliss Park
when Bill Clinton, running for president, gave a splendid speech on a magnificent fall day. I shook his hand that day. I think my kids did too.

12. Are you interested
in starting a local group or do you know of one in this area?

My friend and I would like to start a group or join one for support and to work on ways to inform others about what is REALLY going on in Washington since our corporate media won't do it!

Waht do you think?

18. I don't know of one in this area
I would be interested in getting together once in awhile. I have to keep a fairly low profile, though, because I work in the media (radio) and don't want my station to have any appearance of bias due to my outside activity.

from the website suggested in the first thread. I'm gonna check them out. There's an Ann Arbor Democracy Meeting for America meeting coming up on February 2. I'm also very interested in Ann Arbor Fight Big Media Group and their meeting is next Tuesday the 19th.

Check it out!
