Michigan bill to break teachers
Michigan State Representative Bill Rogers (R-Brighton) has introduced a bill to permanently revoke the teaching certificate of
any teacher who participates in a job action.

Teachers call it a direct attack.

On Tuesday, state Rep. Bill Rogers, R-Genoa Township, introduced House Bill 4465, which would require the state superintendent of public instruction to suspend or revoke the certificates of public schoolteachers who break the state's existing laws against striking. Teachers could request a hearing to keep their certificates, but if they fail ask for one or are proven to have participated in a strike, their certificates could be removed.

Rep. Paul Scott, R-Grand Blanc, sponsored House Bill 4466, which includes a new penalty against labor organizations which would include the MEA, the state's largest teachers' union of $5,000 per teacher for each full or partial day public school employees are engaged in strikes or "strike-like activities."
