Anyone else getting robocalls dissing Virg Bernero?
Edited on Mon Mar-08-10 09:36 AM by SharonRB
They claim he's bad for the unions and that the party is pushing him down our throats. I wonder if Dillon or the Rs are behind the calls. I've gotten three already.

On Edit:

By the way, Virg is speaking at the Oakland County Dems meeting tomorrow night in Pontiac if anyone is interested in attending.

1. Yes. The Primary isn't until August
can't think of a better way to turn off the electorate.

2. There's an endorsement convention in April, but it's
supposedly not for any races where there's a primary, like governor. It's mostly for Attorney General and Secretary of State so they don't have to wait until August to start campaigning more heavily. Those candidates are selected at the convention, not by a primary, so I think it's good to get an endorsement early.

3. They said on OTR this weekend that the unions are endorsing him.

Some incarnation of the DLC is probably behind the calls.

I expect they HATE him.

I saw him speak last Wed., Sharon.

I liked what he said. I waited too long to
ask him about his pro-choice position and
had to talk to him afterwards, he claimed
to be pro-choice...

Maybe you can pose the question to him in
front of the group...

"Can we expect you to be Michigan's PRO-CHOICE Governor?"

:hi:

6. I figure it's either the Rs or Dillon
I didn't believe for a second that he was anti-union. I'm really looking forward to tonight and hope I get a chance to meet him.

5. Mark Gaffney says:

"There is no good reason to be bothering people with a robocall for a matter like this," he said.

"I think it's Republicans trying to sow dissension," he said, discounting other theories that supporters of rival Democratic candidate Andy Dillon could be behind the calls.

Not sure I agree with that, but not much would surprise me. Bernero is a pretty good, progressive candidate - and he's gaining momentum!

7. I don't trust Dillon enough to be sure it's not him
but more likely it's the Rs.

I think Virg is a great candidate.

8. Two such calls so far...
The first was telling me to call UAW, the second the AFL-CIO.
The number showed up on my caller ID as a Washington DC number.
The thing that really gets me is that there was no indication what group had paid for the message. I thought the new campaign rules required groups to identify themselves at the end of the message?

Hopefully someone can get to the bottom of this.

Not sure if it is RepubliCONS or a group for Dillion.

Go Virg!!
