Help Us Convince Mitt Romney to Sign the EC Bill:
Join the Campaign!

Thanks to all of your hard work and activism . An Act to Provide Timely Access to Emergency Contraception has passed both branches of the legislature, and is expected to reach Governor Romney's desk on Monday! The bill would require hospital emergency rooms to offer emergency contraception to all survivors of rape, as well as allow specially trained pharmacists to offer EC to women without a prescription.

Once it reaches his desk, the bill only faces one more hurdle before it will become the law of the Commonwealth: It needs the Governor's signature!

When he ran for Governor in 2002, Mitt Romney pledged to support increased access to EC. Lately, however, he has refused to commit to signing the EC Bill, which is a promising option for preventing pregnancy and reducing the need for abortions in Massachusetts . We need your help to urge Governor Romney to keep his word, and sign this bill into law!

Here's How You Can Help:
1. Join us at a rally and press conference by Planned Parenthood of Massachusetts !

When: Tuesday (tomorrow), July 26 at 1:00 p.m.
Where: MA State House (in the front of the building*)
*note in the event of rain there will be someone stationed outside to direct people to a back-up location

Join key legislators, Planned Parenthood of Massachusetts, the Massachusetts Coalition for Choice, and other organizations that support the EC Bill as we kick off the "Keep Your Word" campaign. At this press conference we will urge the Governor to keep the promise he made in 2002 to support increased access to emergency contraception.

2. Volunteer to help us keep pressure on the Governor Volunteer in the days that follow by helping at our new Boston headquarters or in your neighborhood. We are currently reaching out to voters accross the state to hold Mitt Romney accountable for his ultra-conservative agenda and make sure that next time we elect a Democratic Governor.
