Meet the fans of 'Romneycare'
http://www.thesunchronicle.com/articles/2011/07/06/news/9824510.txt

"Owen Geoghegan, a self employed plumber from Norton, was paying $2,000 a year for his own health insurance about a dozen years ago.

But each year over the next decade the costs increased by double-digit percentages, so that by 2008 his insurance company wanted $9,980 a year just to cover him.

Instead, he went to the Commonwealth Connector, a service of the state health care reform act approved in 2006 under former Gov. Mitt Romney.

The connector puts him and other people into a category with small groups so their combined purchasing power and sharing of risk can get a better price.

Geoghegan said his price through the connector was about $4,000 a year - "and with better coverage."

It ain't Medicare for All, which we still need, but it's helped some of my family and friends too.

1. My brother and best friend both get coverage through the plan
Although it's far from perfect, it has helped a lot of people. That said, Romney was still a lying snake who tried to veto funding for the plan while he was governor.

4. I haven't had a steady job for over 2 years; I'd be screwed without it.

I get a plan through Commonwealth Care. When I had a part-time job, I paid about $77/month. When I'm unemployed and have no income, like now, I pay no premium. (I haven't collected a penny in Unemployment because I worked for a church, and people who work for churches cannot collect.)
