Juvenile diabetes activist dissed by Sen. Brown hits the blogosphere
Story on WFXT

PLYMOUTH - A woman who felt jilted during a meeting with Sen. Scott Brown took her complaint to the Internet - and the response was bigger than she ever could have imagined.
One year ago, Moira McCarthy went to Washington, D.C. to talk with Sen. Scott Brown about diabetes research. Her daughter has Type I diabetes.
Moira said assumed the conversation would be pleasant because Sen. Brown gives off the appearance of a likeable truck-driving, regular kind of guy. But she says the conversation was anything but. Sen. Brown had time for a photo op and that's it.
McCarthy wrote an open letter to the senator on her new blog. She posted it two days ago describing her disappointment and it instantly went viral. It was tweeted and retweeted and eventually sent to Sen. Brown's Facebook page where it produced big results.

Brown called her to apologize and "cleared his schedule" to set up a meeting with her and her daughter on May 16th. The whole incident was picked up by local media. So far, Moira has been on WFXT News at 10 and WGBH with Emily Rooney. The media attention was definitely driven by the social networks. According to the news report, Moira, a long-time juvenile diabetes activist and freelance writer, had thousands of hits the first day the letter was posted on her blog (despitediabetes) because of the huge network of parents of children with Type I diabetes who are familiar with her work. If you read the letter, our fair Senator doesn't come off too well.

I'm sure Moira's meeting with Brown on the 16th will be very productive. And I'm sure she will write on her blog about it. But since Brown has proved himself to be an empty barn coat, I'd advise her that no matter what he says at the meeting she should wait and see how he votes on her issues before she changes her opinion of him.

1. Brown is such a self-serving narcissist! She should tell Brown
to go screw himself.
