Just hours after William Linehan won the District 2 Boston City Council seat, his son was viciously stabbed after leaving his father’s victory party, leading the newly elected pol to declare war on senseless street violence.

“This kind of senseless violence in our city has to stop. We will not allow our streets to be plagued by violence,” Linehan said in a statement yesterday.

His son, Sean Linehan, 26, a Dorchester District Court officer, was in a medically induced coma last night at Boston Medical Center suffering from a stab wound to the back that pierced his lung and broke a rib about 12:46 a.m. yesterday. “It’s touch and go,” said one family friend.

Linehan and his girlfriend had stopped at the Teriyaki House on West Broadway in South Boston for dinner after attending the victory bash for his father at the Seaport Grill on the Southie waterfront, police said.
