If illegal immigration is a terrible terrible thing, why do we not hold the companies that hire the illegal immigrants accountable?

1. Exploiting workers is a time-honored Republican tradition.

People who are here illegally are much more likely to put up with substandard wages, shitty working conditions, no benefits -- the kind of workplaces the greedy repuke bastards thrive on.

One day I was pumping gas at the local Southern California Unocal which has a car wash attached. Seems it was time to distribute paychecks to the workers. Only there were no paychecks. The boss came out with a stack of paper currency, a card table, and a chair. The guys put down their rags and lined up to collect their pay - all in cash - no records. This was done in full view of everybody. Clearly there was no fear of the immigration authorities. Think the INS is going to crack down on Unocal? Not a chance.

As far as Francesco Insolia who heads up Michael Bianco, Inc. and was actually arrested, I googled his campaign contributions and found that he's a contributor to Barney Frank. Think that might have had something to do with it?

2. The owner and managers were arrested. They are out on bail.
The illegal immigrants remain in detention.

Michael Bianco owner's release terms allow for travel to Puerto Rico
By Rob Margetta , Standard-Times staff writers

BOSTON — The owner of Michael Bianco Inc., the leather goods and textiles producer
raided by immigration officials Tuesday, was scheduled to travel to Puerto Rico for
business yesterday as part of his release agreement, court documents said. Francesco

Insolia, 50, of 3 Country Club Circle in Pembroke, faces federal charges of conspiring
to hire illegal aliens at Michael Bianco.

The company had millions of dollars worth of contracts to produce military backpacks.

At his arraignment in U.S. District Court Tuesday, Mr. Insolia surrendered his passport
and agreed to restrict his travel to the continental United States, with the provision
that he can make business trips to Puerto Rico.

3. He lives in tony Pembroke - he had multimillion dollar contract with government
to make backpacks. He was released on bail, but was operating yesterday - making the backpacks.

Unbelievable.

Boston Globe reported that 2 children were admitted to the hospital for dehydration b/c they were nursing and their moms were sent to Texas. A third child - age 7 - called 911 looking for her mom.

Unbelievable.

4. And why does a company like that have a govt (defense dept) contract?
I think that bothers me just as much.
