Western Massachusetts Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) will present two public forums entitled, "Ending the War in Iraq: Is Impeachment Necessary?"
The controversial issues of the continued occupation of Iraq and the question of presidential accountability will be the focus of these forums to be presented the weekend of Mar. 10th and 11th in Greenfield and Northampton. While the U.S. Congress is deeply involved in these two areas of concern, PDA has been creating opportunities nation-wide for grassroots involvement in discussing these pressing issues.
The weekend will present opportunities for local citizens to hear and question three panelists:
Cindy Sheehan, mother of Casey Sheehan who was killed in Iraq in April 2004, has protested President Bush's policies at his Texas ranch, the White House and across the nation; Co-founder of Gold Star Families for Peace; Author of Peace Mom: a Mother's Journey Through Heartbreak to Activism; Board member, Progressive Democrats of America.
Dan DeWalt, citizen activist, selectman, from Newfane VT, spearheading the movement in Vermont and New England for holding the Bush Administration accountable through impeachment.
John Bonifaz, Constitutional Attorney; founder of the National Voting Rights Institute and author of, Warrior King: The Case for Impeaching George W. Bush; Co-founder of AfterDowningStreet.org; Former candidate for Massachusetts Secretary of State, 2006; Board Member, Progressive Democrats of America.
The Greenfield event will be held at the Greenfield Middle School at 7PM on Saturday March 10th.
The Northampton event will be at the First Churches on Sunday March 11th at 3PM.
Following the Sunday forum there will be a reception/fund-raiser with Cindy Sheehan and Dan DeWalt at the home of David and Wendy Newton, 211 North St., #5, Northampton.
Sponsors include: Greenfield Community College, Veterans for Peace, Chapter 5, Western Massachusetts CODE PINK, Social Workers for Peace and Justice, Bill of Rights Defense Committee, SAGE, Northampton Committee to Stop the War, and MoveOn (Second Congressional District Council).
