Fosters.com reports that Aubuchon Hardware, headquartered in Lewiston, Maine, has entered a partnership with Northeast Bank to offer special pricing and financing on wood-pellet, corn and other alternative-fuel stoves. In the partnership, the bank will offer unsecured, low-interest loans of up to $5,000 to qualifying homeowners who wish to convert from their traditional fuel sources to an alternative energy appliance.

"Families are more conscientious than ever about the environment, and many are switching to more cost-effective wood or other alternative fuels. We wanted to make it easier to afford a new, cleaner burning stove," says Jim Delamater, the president and CEO of Northeast Bank. "Wood pellet stoves specifically burn cleaner than oil furnaces, and the fuel is less expensive than petroleum-based fuels. The pellets are a renewable, abundant, home grown resource, lessening the impact on our environment."
