John Frary's GOP (Grand Old Punchers)
File this post under the "Only in Maine" category.

Things got a little out of hand last week at a Guilford Historical Society meeting in Piscataquis County. According to a May 29th Bangor Daily News article, the society's secretary, Zarvin Shaffer, allegedly punched fellow member Al Hunt in the jaw after a contentious meeting in which Shaffer's father, Robert Shaffer (president of the society) took some flack for removing some pictures from the local museum. As if that wasn't enough, Zarvin's teenage son reportedly pulled the hair of Hunt's wife after she started lifting up chairs.

Watch out, Guilford residents. The Shaffer clan turns their battles into a family affair!

What the BDN article fails to mention is the connection between the Shaffers and John Frary, Republican nominee for the 2nd Congressional District. Robert Shaffer, Zarvin's father, is "CEO" of the Frary for Congress campaign, while Zarvin serves as "Assistant CEO." I imagine these titles are Frary-talk for campaign manager and assistant campaign manager, respectively.
