1. Ann- this is Finecraft
I haven't been able to post since yesterday. Just to let you know, due to numerous reasons, we stayed in New Iberia instead of going to Baton Rouge. We are all boarded and sandbagged and ready for a long day and night today. Overall though, I think we'll come through o.k. here in New Iberia. The wind has picked up a bit here since I got up at 7:00 and it is now starting to rain. A light rain so far, but a rain none the less. I haven't heard anything yet about water near Abbeville, but I also heard about the foot of water in Cameron. I'll try to keep you up to date on how things are going.....at least until we lose electricity.

2. It's good here
my fawkin FedEx package with the 2 Nextel phones I was waiting on overnight delivery, stopped at Kenner at 5:30am. I drove to Pinhook to see if they would give me the box, but they were closed. 2 of the skeleton crew came outside to tell me that no deliveries were made this morning and I would have my phones Monday. Well, that's a fistfull of money I wasted....Could have really used them this weekend, when I needed them.

Abbeville is CLOSED for business. The car delearships moved almost all of their stock. Walmart, Walgreens, ShopRite were boarded up. NO gas to be found, which goes w/o saying.

Lafayette has more activity than I thought. There were a few Circle K's and ShopRite's open selling gas. All of the major brand stores are closed and boarded. I saw KFC and Sonic open for a time this morning. I went into the KFC around 10:30. The guy in front of me said 'Give me 20 pieces of anything'. Better to sell the stock than throw it away I suppose. Walgreens at Congress and Ambassasdor was brisk but had no bread. I bought some snacks there. The S.O. is staying in a hood where Ambassasor and Gilbeau meet. Strasbourg drive maybe? I visited with her and her brother for a few minutes. They'll be safe.

it *just* started raining with some conviction here in the last few minutes. Light wind with rain. Nothing major at this time. Nothing yet, Ann! I'm sure tonight will be different.

My laptop is charged up and I believe my DSL will work w/o power. I'll make sure to post (if possible) when I lose power.

The "VI" of Abbeville is where I'm at.
