Clooney for Congress Update

Dear Friends,

I am writing you today to give you a brief update on our campaign. We have been extremely encouraged by the results so far, and are working hard to prepare for Election Day, now only four and a half months away. We have traveled across the district and met many fine people, and anxiously await the opportunity to meet more.

I, however, must also give you some unfortunate news. Our opponent, Geoff Davis, has already begun his attacks on Nick’s character. At the Republican State Convention, he delivered a message distorting Nick’s record and promised to run a negative campaign based on those distortions. In a letter disguised as a military document, Davis repeatedly attacks Nick, claiming, “Hollywood-liberal-elites are trying to hijack this Congressional district.” While we are saddened that this has occurred, it is not unexpected from a man like Geoff Davis.

Nick is a lifelong Kentuckian who wants nothing more than to fight for the best interests of his constituents. Unlike Davis, Nick will not be afraid to be an independent voice of reason in the partisan squabbles that erupt in Congress. However, without your help, Davis will continue to flood the airwaves and mailboxes of this district with lies about Nick’s character, integrity, and commitment to Kentucky values.

As you most certainly are aware, political campaigns are very expensive. With Mr. Davis apparently sparing no expense and his willingness to stoop to any level to discredit Nick, we need to be prepared to fight back and refute each and every falsehood he will tell.

That’s why we’re asking you, our friends and supporters, to please help now. We face a reporting deadline of June 30 for our campaign, and we are hoping we can count on your support by then.
