1. I know. I am just sick about this.
I really thought Paul Morrison was a good guy. His behavior is going to really hurt everyone of the democrats who were behind him.

This has to be really serious. Even Kathleen Sibelius has come out with a statement.

2. I never liked him much when he was DA
but I welcomed him into the party and was thrilled to see him run against Phill Kline.

Now I am just sick to my stomach.

My story about Morrison (why I never liked him) goes back to a high profile murder case here over 10 years ago where a mother was eventually convicted of killing two of her children. When she was arrested (after more than a month of hyper publicity; everyone in town knew she was being investigated) Morrison sent officers to arrest her as she dropped her daughter off for ballet rehearsal. It was a very 'public' arrest; Morrison contacted local media and there was more than one local police dept involved. So it was a circus.

My good friend was on the board for this ballet company and they got so much hate mail and threatening phone calls after this circus arrest that they were forced to hire a security company to get through their season. This is a not for profit organization with a small bank account and a volunteer director so this was not a minor expense.

So I contacted Morrison's office as a taxpayer to object to the circus arrest. I said the cops had been following this mom for weeks; they knew where she lived and where she worked. I asked why they couldn't have just arrested her at home or work, without involving her innocent young daughter or the ballet company, and why did it all need to be timed to make the 6:00 news. The person in Morrison's office I talked to said well, Mr Morrison admits he lost his temper with this woman and wanted to make her arrest as high profile as possible.

I was stunned. I told this person on the phone that I was also a professional and one of the many expectations my employer places upon me at work is to NOT lose my temper. I said I feel certain that the taxpayers in Johnson County have every right to expect a district attorney who can also be expected NOT to lose his temper. So the person on the phone took my name and number and said he would ask Mr Morrison to call me and he never did.

Anyway, I have been leery of Paul Morrison ever since.

3. What the governor said:
Governor: Morrison should quit if allegations proved about professional conduct
TOPEKA | Attorney General Paul Morrison should step down if it’s proven that he tried to use a former lover to gain information or influence in cases handled by the Johnson County District Attorney’s office, Gov. Kathleen Sebelius said today.

Sebelius said that she wanted the facts to play out, and that she wasn’t calling for his resignation. She noted that Morrison has accepted responsibility for the affair, but that if the allegations about his professional conduct are true, it’s a different mater.

A former staffer in the district attorney’s office has filed a sexual harassment complaint against Morrison. She is alleging that Morrison attempted to use her to gain information about open cases – and to influence the legal dispute between District Attorney Phill Kline and eight fired staffers.

“She said if either of those were accurate then yes, he should step down,” said Sebelius’ spokeswoman, Nicole Corcoran.

Sebelius made the comments after a firestorm of criticism descended on Morrison, a fellow Democrat. Some Republicans immediately called for his resignation, though Morrison said Sunday he has no plans to step down.

Morrison acknowledged an affair with Linda Carter, but denies he tried to use her to gain information about cases in the District Attorney’s office.

4. Seriously,
I could have kicked him in the damn ass for doing something as fucking A+ retarded as he did.

It's unbelievable that he got caught in that scandal. Disgusting. Last thing we needed as a State party.
