Zahn's remark concerning Putin having sex with men
Here's the quote I mentioned last night at evl's house at the afterparty/planning meeting after the AIT/Gore movie.

ZAHN: ... including reports, Nikolas, that would suggest that people wouldn't be surprised if Vladimir Putin wouldn't want him dead, after he went public with allegations that Mr. Putin was having sex with men.

Here's a link to the full "Paula Zahn Now" Dec. 5, 2006 transcript from the CNN website: http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0612/05/pzn.01.html

Oh, sorry. I was thinking along the lines of "you say tomato, I say ta-mah-to". Aw, never mind.

18. I don't mean this to be rude but
I just saw (finally) Brokeback Mountain. I read your post and thought of the movie poster with Phill's and Shallenberger's faces and with the caption "I can't quit you now".

4. I told proud I saw on Wonkette
but when I looked for it I found it on Americablog.com. Ooopsie. Yep, it was something proud and I were talking about. She didn't seem to remember the incident. So I figured, I'd post it for the rest of y'all.

Was Rex talking about his girlfriend or Kelly Ripa? :spray: Just don't get him started on talking about Ripa and we're okay. How did her name come up anyway? As soon as I find out they're in for a long :spank:

And it was spontaneous. He just can't help himself. But, since he's already got a GF, that leaves Kelly for me!

6. I think it's Missouri
He talks more about Kelly Ripa when he's in Missouri than he does when he's here in Kansas. And if it isn't crossing into Missouri that triggers this Ripa thing then the only other triggers are you and proud.

I never knew about this Ripa thing until that night at the Flea Market. I swear I didn't. I only hear about Ripa at the Flea Market and your house. It's weird. It is really weird. I mean, he comes by our house at least once a week, sometimes he's here three or four times a week, and he has never mentioned Kelly Ripa. I brought it up once and he looked at me like I was crazy and went on with whatever story he was telling. I've been going to his parties for years and I've never heard him mention her. He's spent holidays with us, we've gone to movies together, protests together, poltical rallies together, had breakfast, lunch & dinner together and never once has he mentioned Kelly Ripa. I don't get it.

should stay in Missouri. :P

fwiw, the guy who introduced us to Rex just stopped by for a brief visit. I asked him if he had ever heard Rex mention Kelly Ripa. He's never heard him talk about her. Zip. Nada. Never.

15. You know abou this
Rex isn't dating her but he does have a fascination with her that is, well, just strange. I know his fascination has come up before because of old posts about it. Like this one from January, almost a year ago http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=153&topic_id=3790&mesg_id=3810 . Remember, we brought Rex up and some how something set him off and he started talking about Kelly Ripa. He spent most of the evening talking about her. I think we followed you guys back to evl's house and Rex kept talking about Kelly Ripa.

16. We always have planning meetings
And we usually have some of the same agenda items: beer and talking. At some point near the end of the evening you tell us what we should be doing and then we go out and do it.

I admit that last night, I had my own agenda item. That was to introduce evl to Tim. Tim was in publishing. We've talked about starting a publishing business. I thought it was a good thing to introduce Tim to the group since I thought he would fit in and that he brings with him some experience in the publishing industry. Besides, Tim is a huge Chiefs fan and so is evl. I thought evl could use another guy friend to hang out, drink beer and watch football with. In other words, I'm out there recruiting new DU associates.

24. One of the reasons I know him
is because he was one of the few liberals I met that likes talking about sports. He's a bigger football fan (Cheifs) than I am. Sorry about introducing you guys so late in the season.

Plus, he has all the experience as a publisher himself. You guys talked about that and proofreading and such such stuff.

Even better, he lives close enough to your house and the Flea Market to become a regular. He's also having a party in the spring and wants you guys to come too.

Don't forget it. According to our Washington sources (wink, wink) the GOP are set to destroy the populist movement by equating it with communism.

27. I'd go up like Sterno on evenings when I'm chugging the Jameson
But yeah, I could go with hemp fiber as the material. It is pretty damned durable. Besides that, there's a lot of ditch weed around here so we could spin our own shirts.

What should we make the stars out of?

I was thinking more along the lines of used Dr. Pepper caps. They're a nice maroon color and for some reason I think maroon is an appropriate color.

But I can see why Dr. Pepper caps would work. Hold them to the forehead, apply mallet.

31. I have an ulterior motive
If we upset them too much they might damage their property prior to rapture. That wouldn't be good.

Are we talking a rubber mallet here? 'Cuz I've got two of them. Could we tag them as non-commies with the caps instead of us as commies? It might hurt less.

They're a must for child-rearing.
Reverse tagging would be less painful for us. But, we have a lot of work to do, and who will drink all of that Dr. Pepper?

Those would be easy to pound onto a skull. The two litre screw caps would be a bit more of a challenge. We'd need wrenches.
