Crazy Steve King at the Republican State Convention
I did a little reading about the Republican State Convention tonight and saw these 2 quotes from crazy Steve King's speech. The first one comes from the http://jcgop.blogspot.com/2006/06/iowas-conservative-firebrand.html">Johnson Co. Republicans who had this quote from King, "There are probably not 72 virgins in the hell Al-Zarqawi is in. If there are, they probably all look like Helen Thomas."

Then http://krustykonservative.blogspot.com/2006/06/republican-state-konvention.html">Krusty Konservative had this about the King speech... "He (King) said that when Saddam was captured, he went out and celebrated Iraqi style by going outside a shooting his shot gun in the air. The reason it’s so funny is you don’t really know if its true or not, because you can see him doing it." You bet I can see him doing it. What a nutcase.

I was sure glad that Krusty used the word crazy (krazy in Krusty language) in the same paragraph describing King's speech. Krusty also hoped that King runs against Tom Harkin in 2008. Well, this common Iowan sure hopes King runs against Harkin too.

1. Today's Republican party is an amazing conglomeration.
A republican meeting is probably the only place in America where you can threaten violence to people and not only NOT get arrested but instead you get nominated for office. Where you express a desire to supress the Bill of Rights and your declared a great American, where you scheme to funnel taxpayers money to your business buddies without any scrutiny and your held up as a great leader.\
So King is only just a little more than the others.

2. We all hope King runs against Harkin.
Shit, HARKIN hopes King runs against Harkin.

Seriously.

At the Dem convention, I stopped and talked to Harkin for a minute, and I mentioned that King's my Congressman, to which he responded (with obvious disdain for King), "We gotta get him out of office."

I then mentioned the rumor of him wanting Harkin's seat and that he could run in 2008, and Harkin looked skyward and said, "Lord, if only I can be so lucky."

Couldn't agree more.

3. like shooting fish in a barrel
All that is missing from SK is his white robe and funny hat. King is something you scrape off your shoe at the dog park. Harkin might not even have to stop and pick up a stick he could just rub his foot against the curb and move on.

5. I keep telling you guys that King will run against Harkin to get ready . .
To run for Grassley's seat in 2010. The race against Harkin in 2008 will be the warm up act for 2010.

That is unless Ann Coulter convinces little Stevie King to run for President in 2008! His motto can be "B-1 Bob Dorman was right! we should have nuked the Axis of Evil!"

And this being Iowa, where somebody voted for Roger Jepsen (at least once) and Chuck Grassley (at least five times) and Terry Branstad (at least four times) don't discount the ability of fascists like King to win a statewide election. That means that we and Harkin will have our work cut out for us in 2008.

God help us in 2010!

6. True...
The neocon "Christian right" (I have to use that phrase in quotes because they're neither) will put a lot of resources behind King, so it won't be a cakewalk. That said, Harkin would still have an edge due to incumbency. And it'll be fun to see him attack the hell out of King (not to mention soooo easy).

14. isn't Harkin getting pretty old??
I remember working and voting for him for representative in 72 when he lost and 74 when he won.

In 72 he lost but his wife Ruth ran for Story Co atty and won. She was the first woman county atty in IA. For some years later only women were county atty in Story Co.

For years, whenever Story Co democrats got together the 'Tom lost and Ruth won' story was retold and enjoyed.

BTW, I am now back in OK where I was born and grew up. Harkin will always be MY senator, especially since I have Inhofe and Coburn as senators now.

7. King seems to be like Joe Biden (D-Sellout)
always being quoted for some garbage he said. Always visible. Always NAUSEATING. If you are trying to lose weight, just read some neocon reactionary quotes in the papers which will serve the same function as sticking a finger down your throat.

8. Biden is at least palatable.
King's a flat-out white supremacist.

9. Is it something they put in the water in NW Iowa?
Or is it just religious insanity?

In any event, I can hardly believe I made it out of that place with any wits left.

10. I feel sorry for Helen Thomas . . .
King used her as the butt of his joke at the convention. She covers the White House for 40+ years and Steve King said that if 72 virgins greeted Al Zarcowi when he got to heaven, they all looked like Helen. Such a funny guy.

I think we should rename King's home town of Kiron to "New Berlin." That way all of the Nazis that love the guy will know where to call home . . . Heil Hitler!

When King writes his autobiography, maybe he could call it "My Life" too.

Come on Joyce Schulte!!!!

12. How about "New Auschwitz"?
It'd be more apropos, especially since he has apparently claimed that all the Mexican immigrants are causing a new Holocaust by killing Americans...
