Will "My Man Mitch" change his rosy-scenario political ads? I doubt it!

Delphi layoffs aimed at Kokomo

By Ted Evanoff
Posted: August 18, 2008

Delphi Electronics will lay off 600 of its 3,200 salaried employees in the United States.

The majority of the cuts will take place in Kokomo, the global engineering center employing 2,500 white-collar workers.

Layoffs will conclude by Dec. 31. Specific numbers for layoffs in Kokomo were not available.

The layoffs are part of an effort to trim costs 25 percent in the face of declining orders from automakers.

U.S. vehicle sales have dropped to an estimated 13.8 million autos this year on an annualized basis from 15.5 million last year.
