Aurora Beacon News: Criticism flies in post-primary forum
http://www.suburbanchicagonews.com/beaconnews/top/a07forum.htm

"AURORA — Meeting in their first post-primary forum, mayoral candidates Richard Irvin and Tom Weisner both went on the offensive Sunday, with each man challenging his opponent's qualifications to govern.

Crime and economic development proposals were at times overshadowed by what has become a recurring campaign theme: the other man's inadequacies to lead.

Irvin answered several questions by first criticizing his opponent and focused nearly all of his opening remarks on questioning Weisner's 17-year tenure at City Hall and his departure last year during the city's water crisis.

Irvin called on voters to make character an issue in the campaign and compared Weisner quiting his job to a soldier going AWOL in the middle of war."

Being touted as one of the most important mayoral races in the country.
