3. LOL, you could probably build a coalition of downstaters and southsiders
If you campaigned on the fact that you won't pretend to like the Cubs, you could get downstate people and southsiders to band together. However, Cubs fans are spread throughout the state. Also, if Mayor Daley can hate the Cubs and get elected to office in Chicago, I think you have a shot statewide.

4. Daley hates the Cubs?
Wow, didn't know that. I don't follow the city politics too much. Heh.

Well, I have at least ten years to work on a coalition of Cards and Sox fans :P I'm only 20.

5. He's a huge Sux fan
Edited on Thu Feb-10-05 03:37 PM by CubsFan1982
I mean, Sox fan. ;-) As I recall reading, his father was also a big fan of the Chicago Cardinals, never a big fan of Da Bears. So, all things considered, the Daleys have been on the wrong side sports-wise for decades!

7. Sox fans and other good peoples
Pat Quinn is a season ticket holder
Jim Thompson (an R, but still)
Mike Madigan (and by extension, probably Lisa)
Dan Hynes (presumably - he's of Beverly stock)
Obama is a south sider - draw your own conclusions
Durbin is a probably a cards fan
Emil Jones

Statewide, leaves only Blagojevich and Jesse White (who actually played for the Cub organization - so he gets a pass).

10. Man, Durbin's from East STL?

13. As a downstate Cards fan
I hate to relay this message, but I heard Senator Durbin during a Cards broadcast tell Mike Shannon that, although he grew up rooting for the Cards, he's now a Cubs fan.
There's not much I can say to that, considering I grew up in a Cub household and became a Cardinals fan!

11. I'm a Packers fan....
...but if putting on an Urlacher jersey is what it took to win, that's what I'd do.

"Sure, I still love the city I grew up in, but Illinois is my home, now. Go, Bears!" Or some such garbage.

Go Packers. :P
