GOP corruption additions?

Howdy!

Me and another DUers, OKThatsIt are working on the "mother" of all collections of GOP corruption, crime and creepiness. This "scorecard" list is also appearing on the Randi Rhodes Show website, and we're updating it once a week. 1. This little doozy only caused a blip in local media

Gov. Lingle (R-Says She's Moderate but has Karen Hughes on Speed Dial) had to fill a vacancy in the Legislature created when Ken Hiraki resigned to go work as a lobbyist for the phone company (a division of Carlyle!) Hawai'i elections law states that the Governor must appoint a member of the same party to fill such a vacancy; Hiraki is a Democrat. So what does she do? Appoint the biggest DINO she can find? No, not good enough: she got one of her repuke cronies to re-register as Dem and promptly appointed her to the seat -- only to find that said crony has a criminal record!! Stay tuned...

I'm really surprised that this hasn't gotten more traction in a local media scene that has far too many outlets chasing very little hard news (missing hikers can dominate the headlines for days!).

Edit: Uber-repuke Jim Henshaw, failed legislative candidate from Windward O'ahu, actually wrote an LTTE condemning this sleazefest. Go figure.
