Any Miami folk know about Neil Rogers, Jorge Rodriguez - radio guys?
Can folks from the Miami area tell me something about
Neil Rogers (supposedly a radio host) and Jorge Rodriguez
(supposedly his producer)?

Like, do they really exist?
Are they really radio folks?
Are they radical wingnuts that lure progressives on air to torture them or are they human?
Are they on the up and up?

A grassroots org I'm involved with got some email supposedly from Jorge Rodriguez, and we're trying to figure out if it's legit and if they're legit.

Please and thank you.

They claim they want to have someone from my group on for a "brief and hopefully humorous exchange."

Any info would be appreciated.
Please and thank you.

Myra

1. Yes, they do exist
Neil is somewhat of a Liberal and so is Jorge. They do a show on 560AM in Miami and have good ratings. Neil is a real piece of work and, sometimes, rails against Bush but then, Neil really doesn't like ANYBODY. LOL! I like him and listen to him once a week while in their area. I wouldn't call either of them avowed Liberal Democrats though.

2. Jorge is almost a stereotypical Cuban-American
Edited on Mon Jul-12-04 05:10 PM by Mika
Claims to be left of center, but after you listen to him for a while one will come to understand that he's as misogynistic, homophobic and commie phobic as they get. The mere mention of Cuba or Castro really pushes his not so left temper.

He subs for Neil when Neil is on vacation. He is just awful.

Sometimes one can be listening to an hour of the Neil Rogers show and one will swear that its as anti Dem as Faux News.

5. Hmm, "misogynistic" eh? That's alarming 'cause we're women activists.
The grassroots org I'm associated with is a bunch of dames who produced a countdown to election calendar as a fund raiser for moveon.org.

http://www.damesdemandingdemocracy.com

That's what he wants our rep to discuss, supposedly in a fun way.
But given the nature of the calendar (there's women with exposed
skin), he could well be out to amBush us if he's really got a
problem with women-folk. Hmmm.

Can someone elaborate on his general demeanor with guests, and his
"misogynistic" streak in particular?

Thanks again!

4. Not really

He supports torture. he supports more invasions on Cuba, Iran, Saudi, etc.

Granted that he does read anti Bush stories NOW, but he was doing as much demonizing of Clinton, if not more so in Neil's way, as anyone. he hated Gore and did plenty of Gore bashing pre and post selection too. He supported stopping the recount. He's a "get over it" front running phoney.

He's a poser for whatever is popular at the moment.

I've listened to his show since the early 80's - even before he came out. I know Neil's line o crap well.

I've always wondered why his show was linked on the Latest page.
