Anyone Know How To Get Animal Rescue Grants Here In Florida??

My son is currently running/taking care of an animal sanctuary for a famous person. She may be leaving Florida and he would like to continue with the animals but doesn't have funds to keep it going.

Thought maybe someone might have some ideas. Thanks in advance.

1. I run a small animal rescue in Tampa Bay

I've learned that the best solution is to go to your base supporters and ask if anyone knows a grant writer. If this sanctuary has a newsletter, a good blurb that a grant writer is needed may easily get you someone for free.

A good number of animal welfare/rescue groups in my area have done this with great success.

5. My rescue

has never gotten a grant. We have a few supporters, but I mostly pay the bills. What I meant was to put word out to the current supporters and members that a grant writer is needed. Put it in the newsletter, use an e-mail blast, etc. Usually one will come forward with some experience.

That said, Best Friends and other sanctuaries will often hold grant writing seminars, and that's worth looking into.

Lastly, you could send a grant request to both HSUS and the ASPCA. Those are tough nuts to crack, but it does happen.

our work cut out for ourselves. In the "first stage" right now and need all the info we can get.
