Lieberman Becoming Unhinged: "jihad," "terrorize the senator," "radicals"
From the Lamont Campaign: it does seem that Lieberman is using rovian tactics---maybe he's getting coached by BushCo now.

Dear Wordpix,
Senator Lieberman and his supporters are cracking under the pressure of a close primary, becoming angry and unhinged. Instead of talking about the issues, they are attacking you personally ... yes, you. Senator Lieberman himself said Ned's supporters were on a "jihad" against him. High-profile Lieberman backers have called you "radicals" seeking to "terrorize the senator throughout the summer." The specific choice of words is calculating and no mistake. It's the typical George Bush/Karl Rove tactic peddled by Republican smear merchants like Ann Coulter and Sean Hannity (who have both endorsed Senator Lieberman). This is what we can expect for the next six weeks, and we need your help to fight back today:

We are going on the air tomorrow with a brand new commercial, and we need your help to keep it on the air. While Senator Lieberman distorts facts and outright lies about Ned's record, we are going to hit back with the truth. For too long Senator Lieberman has parroted Republican talking points, giving "Democratic" cover to the president's failed policies. If it talks like George W. Bush and acts like George W. Bush, it's certainly not a Connecticut Democrat. Watch the commercial and help keep us on the air.

The senator's campaign is also desperately attempting to undermine the groundswell of support behind Ned by belittling your ability to make a difference in the democratic process. "Smoke and mirrors from the beginning," Sean Smith, his campaign manager, said of you last week. Well, Sean is right about one thing: there is smoke, and where there's smoke, there's fire. This campaign is setting the country ablaze with the hope that ordinary Americans can reclaim the country from those who have us steamrolling down the wrong track on issues like Iraq, health care, and energy independence. The next FEC reporting deadline is this weekend. Show Senator Lieberman we are more than just "smoke and mirrors" by reaching our goal of five hundred new contributors.

We're going to win on August 8th, and again in November. That's only possible because of you.

Tom Swan
Ned Lamont for U.S. Senate

P.S. Help us reach our goal of five hundred new contributors by this Friday.

Paid for by Ned Lamont for Senate, John Hartwell, Treasurer
