6. Perfect, thanks.
It's interesting that Colorado belatedly recognized another governor, Ralph Carr, for opposing the internment of Japanese during WWII. One of the few bright spots in Colorado race-relations history.

8. Yes, I recommend the book Pioneers and Politicians, by Gov Lamm
It has much about both Carr and Morley, and McNichols, the first gov to occupy the Gov Mansion-- I knew his daughter, and she told hilarious stories of what she and her siblings did when they lived there.

I was quite aware of Carr, because I lived where there was a monument to him. He was a Republican to be admired.

Thanks! :hi:

2. Yes COLORADO, like many states has had difficult journey
But, I take great issue with your use of the cutesy K for Colorado. The state is not deserving and has not been for some time..... Yes, the article is a good one, but I'll wait for a duplicate post to recommend. As a Coloradoan, I do not appreciate your subject line, at all.

7. KOLORADO KLAN was the name of the newspaper.
Sorry you feel the need to turn your hate against me, rather than the true target, but that's DU... and the state.

Have fun with your belittlements....

9. The times may finally be a-changing....
... Drive around Denverado these days, and you'll see a huge number of Obama signs and stickers everywhere. Despite all the white-wing bluster about Colorado being a hardcore Republikkkan state, the people are clearly saying otherwise.

The Coors nazis must be apoplectic!

11. ObamaNation
I agree there are lots of Obama signs and stickers. I have a bumper sticker on my car, however, that gets people stopping me in parking lots and waving me down on the road trying to find out where I got it: "ReElect Al Gore for President of the United States, 2008". The love still exists for the guy from Tennessee!

13. I hope President Obama....
... makes Al Gore his new Secretary for Environment & Energy.

That'll really get the whole 'Change' agenda rolling!

17. Times are changing.
This election CO is being touted as a possible swing state because of the number of undecided voters. Which means it could go with McBush and Poison Palin. But then again Obama might still win Colorado. Either way it's still great to hear that the repugs aren't bragging that Colorado is shoe-in for them as they've done in the past.

10. Still dealing with
landlords who are quite proud of their family's klan ancestry. They do love to make snarky comments about Obama, 'course I respond by putting up more Obama signs and stickers in my windows and on my car. Neighbors have started to ask for some signage, too. Heh.

18. Glad to hear you're putting up lots of signs.
Esp. in windows. The last Presidential election the repugs were blatant about tearing down "Kerry/Edwards" signs even from people's yards. But it's a lot harder to do when they're on the inside of your windows. ;-)

14. wow- I didn't even associate CO with the Klan
but of course, growing up a white girl in Lakewood, I never even knew a black person until I was in my twenties. All I remember thinking about Alice, the woman that I met, is "how pretty her skin was."

I went back home to MS with a girlfriend once- she was born in CO, so she was able to get pioneer plates, but she had a bumper sticker that said "American by birth, Southern by the grace of God". What a contradiction! Boy, was that trip an eye opener. It disappoints me how much racism still exists in parts of the South. I remember being shocked by many things-like her commenting to her Mom on "thats might white of you", etc. I think that if- no when Obama is elected, it will start to heal the country on those viewpoints.

Sadly, I don't think that she is for Obama. Last time we discussed it, she was not voting for him, as he is a Muslim.

16. I know, I know- I sent her a link debunking this
but I think that this is her way of not admitting that she is a racist.
