High school gay bashing a hoax
Alleged gay-bashing at Marin high school a hoax, police said

A 17-year-old top wrestler at an area high school here faked a series of gay-bashing incidents that prompted a police investigation, authorities said.

The rash of gay-bashing incidents at Tamalpais High School was the work of a student gay leader who claimed she was the victim of hate crimes, according to Mill Valley Police Capt. James Wickham.

The teen, who heads the school's Gay-Straight Alliance, admitted to authorities that she was the perpetrator of the incidents, which included vandalizing her own car with derogatory graffiti, police said.

Other incidents involved teachers who received threatening telephone messages.

"It has been determined that all the incidents have been committed by a single individual," Wickham said.

3. The more radical identity-politics activists tend to do goofy things.

I used to be around some of the more loopy elements when I went to college. One of my favorite stunts someone pulled in college was when some members of a radical latina/o activist group (I think it was called Alianza) steal all the free copies of the college newspaper (in concert with some other groups) as a protest against it, and then accused people of racism for writing in to the paper later and saying that they saw some members of Alianza stealing it. Apparently it was racist to say that they were members of Alianza because they looked latina/o or something, which doesn't even make sense as an accusation of racism because the only accusation being made was that they were members of a political group.

But then some other people I know said that there really were members of Alianza doing it, confirming my suspicion all along that they were lying through their teeth and playing a race card. What else is funny is...why do something as a statement and then deny responsibility for it?

5. Mill Valley cops
have nothing better to do than man the speed trap on Miller, follow strange cars, and check houses for owners who are out of town. I bet this was the case of the year for them.

They have a murder about every other year, and several robberies a year, but if there hasn't been a murder in a while, they would have devoted a lot of time to this.

6. I'm relieved by this
I live in the same county and know many in this community. It's been very disturbing to think that in a community like this there is such gay/lesbian bashing. This is a very liberal community and very laid back. I feel sorry for the girl but I'm glad it wasn't a hate crime.

7. There was a supposed rape
on campus when I went there, but it turned out the girl made it up.

I'm baffled why someone would do that.
