Schwarzenegger Prepares to Do Battle in Calif
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A5488-2005Mar27.html

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger came to office 16 months ago determined to shake the political system to the core, but few envisioned the boldness of his ambition. Today, he is girding for what could be the most contentious political confrontation the nation's most populous state has seen in years.

The battle, between the Republican governor and a coalition of public-sector unions and their Democratic allies in the legislature, might yet be avoided. Schwarzenegger maintained last week that his door is open to negotiation on an agenda that includes political, budgetary and education reforms.

2. Schwartzenneggar is copying CO's TABOR tweaking it slightly
Scroll down within the Idahoans site at

www.idtaxreform.com/TABORintro.htm

for info on the Gov's interest in Taxpayer's Bill of Rights as Colorado did it in 1992. This TABOR simply used growth rate in population plus the inflation rate and said government could not spend more than that rate (depending on the 'ideal' rate set in the year prior, of course).

Colorado is now electing Democrats since these measures appear to starve funding of infrastructure projects.

With CA spending 40% on schools and another 35% or so on MediCal, the state's version of medicaid, Republicans are tweaking TABOR to average the last three year's spending and not 'rebating' any monies as the CO measure did. Talk of 'rainy-day' funds etc. come up also.

No one mentions that Ahnold's economic advisor Warren Buffett has said pretty much what Warren Beatty said a few days ago, Raise Corporate Taxes--"Warren Buffett Urges Higher Corporate Taxes"

www.commondreams.org/headlines04/0306-01.htm

Also, no mention of the money Ahnolds was supposed to be getting from Bush due to CA's "donor" state status... or Enron rebates said to be around $9 billion.

Maybe Phil Angelides can do what Arhnolds can't, huh ?

5. Even Warren Buffet, no not Warren Beatty, is saying raise corp. taxes
www.commondreams.org/headlines04/0306-01.htm

Beatty said it not too long ago, too. Ahnolds won't do it though, so the rest of us taxpayers have to take up the slack for the rich and the globalizing multinationals who can pay legislators to write them tax loopholes.

It has to end soon.
