Are we ready to run a recall against Ahnold yet?
I think it may be our only recourse, and the only way to bring attention to several critical issues. One being the severely suspicious results of the previous recall, another being the financial crisis and its roots in the energy scams that WERE NEVER DISCUSSED DURING THE CROOKED RECALL SCAM! So anyways, who thinks it would be a good idea?

1. Go for it....
...but after Kerry is elected! We need to recall George Dubya Bush first. Kill the head, the rest will die a natural death. The republican carcass is already rotting and stinking up the entire country.

2. There is some time period that you have to wait after "election".
Or so I have read somewhere. 6 mo? More? Not sure that we are there yet.

I'm all for it, but it will be an uphill climb. The party sure didn't put up much of a showing during the recall and I am not sure that we can afford to waste political capital on this.

I called her office and left a message urging Loretta Sanchez to run for governor during the recall, but she didn't. (She has got a pretty good deal going for her in congress.)

But we need some strong candidate to put up for any recall and any strong candidate may think better of taking part in what is likely to be a loser, at least in the near term.

But I am all for it. Arnie is a disaster, a sugar coated one to be sure, but a disaster all the same.

7. It's six months
But Schwarzenegger was elected over seven months ago. No one has started the recall process against him yet.

13. Let's get someone who's not in Raytheon's clutches to replace Dianne
Raytheon is one of Loretta's backers and seems to control some of her decisions, such as the $87 billion. One of Loretta's assistants said that, if the Democrats called for an independent investigation into Wellstone's death, it would upset Raytheon and Loretta might lose future contributions from them.

12. Did you notice that the best ones running last year were Huffington
and Comejo? I had never seen Comejo before the debate but I was really impressed.

16. The electronic voting machines liked Arnold. Should we just give up?
Edited on Thu May-20-04 09:03 PM by genius
Or should we find a way to recall Arnold let Californians know about better candidates?

Arianna dropped out before the election. If she hadn't, I would have voted for her.

18. She dropped out because her candidacy was garnering little support
Camejo managed a whopping 3% of the vote. If he is capable of exciting the electorate, he certainly hasn't figured out how to do it yet.

Arnold isn't going to get recalled anytime soon. His popularity is going to have to drop significantly for him to be unpopular enough for that.

And there certainly are plenty of able Democrats in California who would be great candidates for Governor. They will likely do much better then the failed Green and independent candidates of the past.

19. She wanted to unify our side behind Bustamonte who had the
Democratic Party's endorsement and who was the front-runner. She told her supporters to vote for Bustamonte. It would have been better if Bustamonte had thrown his support to her.

11. Not going to happen any time soon
Only unpopular Governors get recalled. So far, Californians seem to be satisfied with the job that Arnold is doing. Until that changes, any recall attempt will be unsuccessful.

14. Recall is a bad idea
Actually it's not a bad idea, but it has no support. davis didn't get ousted by some kind of republican takeover. (no i'm not republican) davis got ousted because the public finally said, "enough is enough." for whatever reason, davis was so loathsome that he did the impossible, he got voters to actually go out and vote. they dumped him in record numbers.

ahnold is no genius and he's not a god send. however, for the first time a powerful politico is trying to put aside the party talk and actually fix something.

what would you or i do if faced with trying to fix california? the ansers are not easy. i think arnie makes a good start though when he says, "let's stop the bickering and let's stop blowing all of the state's money for a while."

this is politics and nothing is perfect and without influence, but you rarely hear people complaining to the degree that they have in the past. of course we always complain in california, but it's no more so than normal. you know why there's no talk of a serious recall? because people are not sufficiently bothered by what arnie is doing. let's give him a term and see what happens.

meanwhile, direct your attention to getting jesus out of the whitehouse. now that's a problem.

17. Unfunny recall campaign cartoon idea

I went to a small rally today to protest the impact the governor's proposed budget would have on the poor and disabled.

All I could think of was a big, strong, body-builder in Terminator get-up, menacing a bunch of kids, seniors, and people in wheelchairs.

Tax the greedy, not the needy.

Sure I'm voting for Kerry, but if Peter Camejo runs for anything at all, I'll vote for him no matter what the consequences. He's not just brilliant, he knows how to implement his ideas for the maximum public benefit.

Camejo tells how he made money putting solar cells on schools and nursing homes in poorer districts. They got grants to pay for it, had no further electric bills, and he made a profit putting it all together. So a would-be competitor called him up and asked how it was done. Instead of defending his proprietary interests, he thought it was great that somebody else would be interested, and responded by posting the entire method on the web. How great a governor would THAT be?

21. Whether it's Gray Davis, Nativo Lopez, or Arnold Schwarzenegger
Edited on Sat May-22-04 12:32 AM by CarlW
I have decided that I am opposed to politically-motivated recalls. When the campaign against Lopez was going on, all I heard were reasons to vote against him, but not enough to recall him. Then, when I heard that a Gray Davis recall was in the works right after he was re-elected, I had had enough. I decided that I was going to vote against these politically-motivated recalls regardless of who the recall was against. I believe a lot of people voted to recall Davis not because of anything scandalous that he had done, but because they wanted to have Arnold Schwarzenegger as the governor. That's fine in a regular election, but it is not the right reason to recall somebody.
