OK, one week from tonight, I want to get together in San Francisco
A number of suggestions were batted about. I got the sense that something near BART was desirable. But I have rented a car for the week, so I can get to Marin etc. provided I get directions.

Seeking suggestions for a place to go. Most of the bars I liked are gone now. Help?

6. kind of a bar/restaurant on Van Ness
not sure about what kind of food, it seemed to be a lot of meat though, as I recall :P when you first walk in, there is a line on the right where you pick up your food, and we always ate way back in the back of the place. Stuck a DU sticker up there once, but it was gone the next time (there are nametags, etc, all over the walls & ceiling in the back)

we need more CAli DUers chiming in here

I know that when you visited in 03(?) we ate and drank somewhere I just can't recall where

here's their site:

7. Oh, THAT place
I remember. That's where we were, because the hotel I was in is right across the street.

That place works for me. Consider it nominated. :)

4. If you get to beautiful Marin...
go to the one and only Sam's in Tiburon.
I can see the roof from my house.
Belvedere/Tiburon and Mill Valley comprise perhaps the bluest spot in the nation.

19. I'll come if its for sure!
I can take Bart from Walnut Creek. I am moving up to WA in a few weeks but need some suggestions on living and helping out in a more "red zone" so to speak! I'm moving 2 hours inland from Seattle.

When you pick the place and time can you give good directions for people who don't go to the city alone very much?? I usually go with my husband for dinner or a show but he works nights.

28. Head over to Oaktown!
Oakland is rockin and you can get real with people there.

If you are taking BART, get off at the 19th Street stop. Go to 401 Webster Street, where you will find "The Warehouse" the best bar in Oakland. Jerry Brown stops in there because his loft is nearby, so you might get to see him.

Oakland is so often overlooked by visitors. Jack London Square rocks too.
