This pisses me off so much I can't see straight.

When does her term expire, again? And do the Dems have a viable opposition candidate?

1. Gov. Brewer...
Her term is up in January 2011. That is when the former Gov.
Napolitano's term would be up had she not left office for the
Homeland Security office in Washington D.C.

2. I think the only "viable"
candidate at this point is Terry Goddard.

What pisses me off is that Obama should have know exactly what he was doing to Arizona when he took Janet away from us but he didn't care. He threw AZ progressives under the bus and put back AZ politics 20 years. Janet Napolitano knew, too, but its pretty hard to say "no" to that kind of offer.

3. And, Of Course,
it isn't as if Arizona plays some critical role in national politics. I can't recall ever hearing, "As Arizona goes, so goes the USA."

In our defense, we can almost always be counted on to elect U.S. Senators who will inject some comic relief into the Congressional Record.

4. I don't think
Dean would have done the same thing ... I think he would have looked at what was best for individual states and what was best for the nation and left key "difference makers" (like Janet) where they could keep the wolves at bay and taken people from "safe" states - heavily democratic states. It would have been in keeping with his 50 state strategy.
