Here is an event for tomorrow if you have spare time.
Mesa Shadow Project 2005*

*Please join us at the Mesa Public Library

(64 E 1st St, Mesa,85201) at 6pm Fri Aug. 5*

On August 6, 1945, a nuclear bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, Japan,
killing 80,000 people outright and 140,000 by the end of 1945. On August 9,
another nuclear bomb was dropped on Nagasaki, killing 75,000 outright and at
least75,000 more over time. According to the city of Hiroshima, as of
August 6, 2004, the cumulative death toll of atomic-bomb victims was 237,062

- The Shadow Project memorializes the victims of nuclear bombs

- Sidewalk outlines mark the anniversary of bombs dropped on
Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Aug. 6th and Aug 9th, 1945

- Shortly after the nuclear bombing of these cities, survivors
outlined the only thing left of their friends and families - the shadows that had
been burned into the ground

- In cities throughout the world on Aug 6th and 9th, people will
find chalk outlines of shadows on the sidewalk outside libraries, post offices
and legislative offices

- This action remembers the victims and survivors and informs the
general public of the horrors resulting from the production and use of
nuclear weapons

Bring your family and friends, chalk, and clothes you don't mind
getting dirty.
