1. Near McDonald's
"NOAA State of Alaska Tsunami Center is located near McDonald's at Palmer, Alaska"

Who needs GPS if you know where the nearest McDonald's is located?

3. yep, Palmer is a small town
Any town in Alaska that's big enough to have a McDonalds ... feels special.

Valdez is too small

But we had our BIG earthquake on Good Friday, 1964

Then we had the Exxon Valdez oil spill on Good Friday, 1989

In this March's remembrance of things past at our Museum, they talked about the earthquake; but not a word, (best I can tell from reading the report)on the EXXON VALDEZ OIL SPILL

Oh, well, just as some people say the Holocaust never happened ...
Maybe some people want the Exxon Valdez oil spill to fade from memory

Strange, isn't it?

4. I remember the Valdez
And I have an aunt who lives in Alaska. She talks about the moose who hangs out in her front yard. Too funny. I guess Mickey D's is rare up there, just was too funny though!

6. I didn't know that
Have you ever heard the sirens?

Do they go off just to practice from time to time?

We hear testing of sirens at noon on certain days ... just a test, you know
