the 49th State needs a 51 Seat Strategy for '08 and beyond.
Edited on Sat Nov-11-06 07:08 PM by Ken Burch
(That is, a strategy to work hard for victory in every state House and Senate district AND THE CONGRESSIONAL RACE. And maybe a 52 Seat Strategy if Ted Stevens retires.)

The time for cherry-picking has come to an end. We need to follow Howard Dean's example and work throughout the state to grow this party and progressive values.

This won't be easy, it may seem frustrating and hopeless at times, but it's the only way.

There were too many seats where we didn't have a candidate. There were also seats where we might have won if only the gubenatorial candidate hadn't taken all the money and resources. We must NEVER AGAIN base our strategy on winning one race and ignoring other.

I want a Democratic, progressive Alaska. An Alaska where resentment politics, tantrum politics and war against the rest of the country aren't the only options. An Alaska where grown up people hold office for the good of all.

That's what a 51 Seat Strategy will give us.

1. I agree...
And also.. I do have a hunch that Ted Stevens will retire long before his next term is up. Geez.. he's eighty fricken three years old!

He's going to be miserable over the next two years.. as will Don Worthless Young.

Wouldn't it be awesome if they both stepped down before the Congress returns, and Ethan, Eric, and Diane could run for those positions?

2. Yeah, that'd be sweet!
Should I forward my ideas on this to the state party?

I'm going to have them distributed at our next Democratic precinct meeting.

4. Absolutely
tell the AKDemo Party your ideas. It is time for them to start acting for the good of the whole not just the few. Preparing and planning now will payoff in the near future.

3. I would love that...
I miss Diane already. Volunteering with her campaign was the most fun I've had in ages. Ethan didn't look too down when I saw him at the Egan Center late Tuesday night. I'm sure he's got something good planned for the future.
