Limbo 2004: The Presidential Campaign
The more this crazy Juggernaut we call Election 2004 goes on, the more I wonder why the bar keeps getting reset. First, we were told Kerry was going to have to get a phenomenal bump after the convention, or else. He did well enough, but the talking heads over at Pravda USA decided he failed. Then when Shrub performed badly, said talking heads reset the bar again by cherry picking aberrant polls that favored Shrub and glowed about the big Bush bump. Then the bar came again: the first debate would decide the election. If Kerry didn't steamroll Shrub, then all hope was lost. If he won, he won the election. Well, he steamrolled Shrub and the talking heads spun like cotton candy machines. Why is it that Kerry keeps getting the bar changed?

1. It's true, what you've described. But this time...
... the bar has been raised for Bush. If he doesn't hit a grand slam tomorrow night, he'll have failed to rescue his candidacy.

3. I think that you are right
The media cannot just hand Shrub a victory cup and still have any reputation. I predict that unless they have coached Shrub blind and give him cue cards, he is going to get steam rolled again.

2. All I know is that more and more people are finding out that they've been
had. Bush will still get the ditto head freeper vote but my gut feeling is that the majority of voters will go in to the booth and vote for Kerry, even repubs. They won't admit but they will vote their conscience and pocket books.

I was right in 2000, more people voted for Gore than Bush.

4. If Shrub gets a larger percentage of the popular vote than he did in 00
I know that the fix is in and I will be protesting the election.
