An INTERESTING thing happens when you vote in the Pundit Scorecard on CNN!
Edited on Wed Oct-06-04 10:48 PM by LoZoccolo
I noticed after I voted that the link it goes to after I hit
the button to submit my answers is:

http://www.cnn.com/POLLSERVER/results/13669.exclude.html

Exclude? WHAT?! Is this another attempt by CNN to exclude
our votes from their polls? I went to it from the link here,
and I know that web browsers often send the referrer link, a
link to the page on which the link appeared...I wonder if
they're excluding results if you got there from DU? I already
voted, so it might know me from my IP...can anyone just type
in the pundit scorecard link and see if it shows this
"exclude" thing if you vote in it then?

1. All of the polls are held on pages that have "exclude" in the URL
Why this is, I have no idea.

2. That has been the results link for as long as I can remember
I was curious as well, but after watching it for over a year it has not changed (other than the poll id of course).

So, dont worry its not a plot...at least not in my opinion.

4. It cross checks IP addresses. It's very common.

They probably do it here at DU. To help with statistics.

5. Saw EXCLUDE for a moment
Just voted, saw exclude in the results address for a moment, then it settled down and displayed results with this address:

http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2004/special/president/debates/press.pundits/results.html

Perhaps it flashes the exclude thing while checking to see if you were linked from DU, and stays that way if you were?
