For those watching the Bush speech: Was I Right?
Today's column is a 'response' to that speech, but of course he hadn't given it yet, so I had to imagine what it would be like...

"I unfortunately can't see into the future to know what he'll say, but if the past is a predictor, it won't be earth-shattering. A friend of mine used to work for a fashion designer and took me once to see a preview of their spring line. The designer got up at the beginning and explained about how they were totally revolutionizing everything this year and it was a radical departure from everything that had gone before. After the show I said to my friend, "That stuff about this being a radical change was all bullshit, right?" She said, 'Totally. Same clothing body as last year with different fabrics.' And that's what a "major speech" from the Bush team is like: the same policies you've already seen all over the place coming at you down the runway, only now with a slightly shorter hem and some sequins."

Was I right?

C ya,

The Plaid Adder

2. Worse than that. It was a Republican Campaign ad paid by us.
Bush and his speech writers approved the ad.

3. It's just another pep rally.
They managed to convince the cable networks that it was a major speech. It's not, it's just a slightly more formal stump speech.

5. In a rational world, the duped TV folks would be
upset that they got 'punked' into carrying this stump speech. Since they can't un-air it, the least they can do is air Kerry's entire campaign speech today. Is that going to happen?

8. The lies are getting more outrageous, the distortions bolder, the insults
meaner, and he's insulting other people including Clinton ("their healthcare plan is on the track to Clintoncare"), Massachussetts, Ted Kennedy, lawyers, and of course, the rest of the world to whom he thinks we owe no respect, but violence supposedly garners their respect for us...

Grrrrrr.....

11. Oh yes, you were right
Three minutes into the speech I thought of your article. Nice job!

Both front page articles this morning have been copied and emailed.

I often do that for people who get emails but no DU at work.
