MSNBC Talking about the Iraq report coming out today on when the
WMDs were destroyed in 1991. Says will undercut the Bush administration's assertions of Sadam's threat to us.

4. I think (I hope) that when push comes to shove, at the polls, the people..
... will just not be able to reward this kind of collosal "misjudgement" on Iraq. Reports like this one yet again hammer home the point that THERE WERE NO WMDs.

Despite the "grave and gathering" talk, despite the attempts to link Iraq to 9-11 (which fall flatter and flatter each time; I even heard it described as a "hoary chestnut" by one pundit after the bush-Kerry debate), despite the desire to "stand behind our troops"...

...Despite all that, everyone in the country KNOWS we went to war because the administration said there was an imminent threat from Iraq, and everyone now KNOWS there was not.

This doesn't even get into the idea that they knowingly misled. Just the massive "miscalculation", being so WRONG, and at a cost that we can only beging to fathom in lives and dollars.

I just have to think the American people will not want to reward that.

3. Not only that, but it says it was a "diminishing" threat. Isn't that...
... the OPPOSITE of "gathering"?

Yet today, the Bushies were pre-emptively trying to head off criticism due to the report, saying it vindicates them, showing that the threat was "grave and gathering".

Ummm, my son (who's four) has several "Opposites" books. He really likes them, but he moved beyond things like "Up" vs. "Down" some time ago. In fact, he's at about the "Diminishing" vs. "Gathering" stage.
