AFP: Kerry scores badly needed points in debate
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=1520&ncid=1520&e=3&u=/afp/20041001/pl_afp/us_vote_debate_analysis_041001073626

CBS showed Kerry the winner by 44-26 percent and ABC by 45-36 percent. A CNN/Gallup poll put the margin at 53-37 percent and said 46 percent reported feeling better about the Democrat after the debate, compared to 21 percent for Bush.

<snip>

But Kerry managed to deliver his most cogent attack yet on the Iraq war and convey a sense of solidity and coherence in front of the man who has spent months ridiculing him as a weak-kneed waffler.

"I think he was very effective at downplaying the argument that he had flipped and flopped on different issues," said David Corbin, a political science professor at the University of New Hampshire.

<snip>

But several analysts said he now had a chance of recharging the somewhat dispirited Democratic ranks and winning back anti-Bush voters who had deserted him amid doubts about his leadership.

1. Kerry got his chance to go beyond the TV media 10 second sound bite
and scored heavily. Bush kept throwing out the 10 second sound bite and it got stale real quick.

3. Kerry was solid.
I loved how he was busy scribbling notes as Bush spoke (LOL, that was respectful of him, but he was probably writing down, 'Jibber jabber jibber jabber'). I was please to see that he addressed Bush's accusations head-on as soon as there was an opening.

Kerry came across as clear, concise, and as the perfect antidote to Bush's miserable leadership.

5. Daily Show was hysterical
...they had a 'cut away' that showed Kerry writing "I am so totally crushing this guy!" or words to that effect.

If you have an opportunity to catch a rerun of the show today, I recommend it. It was pretty damn funny!

7. my favorite bit of * insecurity was
his sudden interest in 'taking notes' after he noticed kerry writing furiously while * was speaking. watching cspan one could really tell that * was just pretending to take notes (occasionally) while kerry was actually writing information - and using it in responses.

it was beautiful to watch and it really showcases the diffrence between the little shrub and the mighty oak tree.
