What was with that weird pursed lips look of Bush's everytime Kerry
hit a solid point against him? It made him look like a simpering old lady who couldn't believe that someone DARED to be critical of her.

1. He was trying to avoid two expressions--
--the Smirk, and angry petulance.

He succeeded only in the former.

4. He's been so protected . . .
. . . with his campaign audiences being filtered, no dissenting voices ever being heard, to suddenly be thrust in front of what I felt was one of the best oratory demonstrations I've ever seen, he just collapsed. I thought he was going to meltdown right there on stage.

5. He was getting hammered
His first impulse is to say something vicious and * was holding himself back, because he knew that he won't get good results by being a vicious shit on national TV.

He leaves that job to others.

I read an analysis of him regarding his problems in speaking and the author claimed he only fucked up when he was trying to be nice. This isn't natural for * and he stumbles. When *'s vicious, he's pretty articulate.

8. and I think he broke a couple of the rules his people
so carefully negotiated. There were a couple of times when he just sort of piped in without waiting for Jim Lehrer to call on him. He was losing it.

6. He had been warned by his handlers not to smirk
That was what happens when you try to swallow a smirk. I am a school teacher, and what I saw was the same looks I see in my students when I catch them doing something wrong - they know it - but they are trying their best to look innocent. Doesn't fly with my fourth graders and it sank like a lead balloon last night.
